Job College of Education Launches ICT Innovation Hub to Empower Students
In a bold move to strengthen digital literacy and technological innovation among its students, Job College of Education, Ila-Orangun, has officially launched a state-of-the-art ICT Innovation Hub on campus. The new facility aims to equip students with practical skills in information and communication technology, coding, digital creativity, and entrepreneurship.

During the inauguration ceremony, the Provost, Dr. (Mrs.) O. A. Akinlade, described the initiative as a major stride toward preparing graduates for the evolving digital world. She noted that the hub will serve as a center for research, training, and innovation — bridging the gap between theoretical learning and real-world applications.

“The world is fast-changing, and education must adapt,” she said. “Our goal is to ensure that every student who passes through Job College of Education is not only academically sound but also digitally empowered to compete globally.”

The project, supported by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), includes high-speed internet access, multimedia laboratories, programming workstations, and a creative space for student-led tech projects. The hub will also host regular workshops, hackathons, and training sessions in collaboration with technology experts and organizations.

Students expressed excitement about the development, describing it as a “dream come true.” According to Miss Abimbola Adegoke, a student of Computer Education, the hub will make learning more interactive and skill-oriented. “Now we can work on real projects, learn coding, and even build apps that solve community problems,” she said enthusiastically.

The college’s ICT Director, Mr. A. O. Fadeyi, emphasized that the facility would also serve staff members through capacity-building programs aimed at integrating technology into classroom instruction.

With the commissioning of the ICT Innovation Hub, Job College of Education continues to solidify its position as a leading institution committed to innovation, excellence, and the advancement of education in Nigeria.
